WBZ Radio, the first commercially licensed radio station, aired its first broadcast on September 19, 1921. The station brought listeners news, concerts, lectures, sports, and many "firsts": the first radio transmission of a hockey game, the first Boston Symphony Orchestra concert on radio, and the first live, on-the-scene radio transmission.
